If you would like to donate a bike in San Francisco or the greater Bay Area, there are several entities that can accept your donation. Most bikes can be refurbished and put back rolling. Parts can be replaced, people can be trained on repairing the bikes, bikes can be given away. Donating and Refurbishing bicycles also helps the environment.

Since 2011 Columbus Cyclery has bought, sold and repaired thousands of bikes in the San Francisco Bay Area. They primarily focus on used bikes and donate a quality bike to the SF Community four times a year. They accept bike donations and provide a tax donation receipt for each bike donated.

It is one of the largest and most effective bicycle advocacy groups in the country. Donating a bike to them is donating to the Community.

The Bike Hut

The Bike Hut is run by the Bike Hut Foundation, a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization. Its mission is to promote cycling through youth training and providing affordable bike rental, repairs, and sales. It also tries to recycle donated bikes and parts to reduce the waste stream.

Bay Area Bicycle Rescue is a nonprofit founded in 2015 that is dedicated to saving bicycles. They started as a necessity for bicycle nonprofits and community shops that become saturated with used bike donations, while other charities struggle. Not many people think to donate bicycles to shelters or schools, but they often need them.

The Bicycle Exchange is a year-round outdoor activity. On our workdays, we set up canopies and repair stands in the parking lot and roll out our tool and parts carts. Volunteers work in teams on selected bikes for donation that week. Many of our volunteers have never used tools, but experienced volunteer mentors provide guidance through demonstration and explanation of principles.
